Step 2: Checked relevant collecting society databasesSearch UPRS, URRO, and other applicable CMO databases for rights holder information.

Step 3: Searched public databases and cataloguesCheck library catalogues, museum records, and other public databases relevant to the work type.

Step 4: Contacted relevant industry associationsWrite to UMA, APAU, SWAU, or other industry bodies to ask if they can identify the rights holder.

Step 5: Searched online databases and resourcesConduct online searches including archival records, bibliographic databases, and web searches.

Step 6: Checked with the publisher or distributorIf the work was published, contact the publisher, record label, or distributor for rights holder information.

Step 7: Documented every step of the searchRecord dates, sources consulted, results obtained, and contacts made for each step above.
